BBQ Diary: The Apricot Experiment
Sweetness abounds

The Setup
I’ve been chasing sweetness lately; not the sugar kind, the balance kind. So when I saw a basket of apricots at the market, I thought, why not? Mike raised an eyebrow. “Fruit doesn’t belong on ribs,” he said. Challenge accepted.
The Stir
I pureed, simmered, and stirred until that sauce looked like sunset in a pot. Tangy, bold, a little reckless. When I brushed it on the ribs, the smell turned heads three houses down. Mike tasted the first bite, went quiet, then said, “That’s not bad.” Translation: I’m impressed but too proud to admit it.
The Flip
Sometimes you have to shake up tradition to remind yourself you’re still alive. I’ve followed enough recipes that it felt good to break one. The sauce wasn’t perfect, but it was mine.
The Rave
After dinner he asked for seconds. I just smiled. Sweetness earned always tastes better. Stay patient, stay spicy — Barbie Q
