Flame Wars: Hot Flash Cookout
Aging isn’t soft

The Spark
It hit me mid-burger flip. The kind of heat no fan or iced tea can fix. Mike thought the fire was flaring up. I thought I was about to combust. “You okay?” he asked. “Just glowing,” I said through gritted teeth.
The Burn
Men don’t understand a body that burns from the inside out. He fiddled with vents, thinking airflow could solve biology. Bless him. I love that man, but if he tells me one more time to “step into the shade,” I might introduce him to the grill firsthand.
The Lesson in the Smoke
Aging isn’t soft; it’s fierce. It’s the kind of fire that teaches you to stop apologizing for the heat you bring. You learn to manage it, laugh at it, and let it make you stronger. I’m not withering. I’m seasoning.
The Rant Wrap-Up
Later that night, Mike brought me a popsicle and a fan. He said nothing. Smart man.
